About Steve

Ask Steves is run by Steven Light, an AI consultant and builder based in Swindon, UK. Over two decades of experience building digital products, first running his own web studio, then inside a global product team leading experimentation and CMS work across 50+ markets, now independently as an AI consultant and builder.

Steve designs prompt systems, builds agent workflows, and turns around in a day what most people think will take weeks. He is also an outsider artist exhibiting as SLART.

Background

Steve started building websites commercially at 22, running his own small studio for eight years before joining a global product team. There he spent a decade leading A/B testing, CMS work, and CRM development across 52 markets.

Since 2022 he has worked independently on AI consulting projects including prompt system design, product audits, automation strategy, and full-stack build work. Clients have spanned music industry bodies, government design system projects, and small businesses needing rapid commercial tools.

How Ask Steves Works

Ask Steves is Steve's answer to the biggest problem in hiring a builder: most of the time disappears into meetings, scoping, and ceremony. Ask Steves cuts that out. You type a question into the search bar, a bot scopes the project into a clear deliverable, you pay via Stripe, you book a slot, and Steve builds the thing in the session.

Sessions are one hour. If Steve cannot deliver something the client loves, they do not pay.

Art Practice

Alongside Ask Steves, Steve works as outsider figurative expressionist artist SLART. He paints in oils and acrylics, runs an active mural practice across Swindon, and is co-founding an artist studio at Arclite House. His work has been exhibited in solo shows in Swindon and London and group shows in Berlin and Brussels. His art website is slart.me.
